A trip out of your mind.
That's the title. That's where it started.
In 2025 I traveled to Iceland. The landscapes, the silence, walking through something that didn't feel real — it stayed with me. When the theme for Premio Fedriani came out, Vertigini di viaggio, that trip was the first thing that came to mind.
The illustration is a visual hyperbole: a head split open, a whole landscape pouring out. Travel as something that breaks you open. The vertigo isn't in the journey — it's in what it leaves inside you.
I submitted three pieces for the selection. This one was chosen as a finalist and exhibited at Palazzo Ducale in Genova as part of the twentieth edition of the contest — founded in memory of Genoese illustrator Sergio Fedriani, bringing together young illustrators from around the world every year since 2005.
